Inspire young footballers by playing at a Premier League or Football League stadium
Play on the Pitch gives young players the opportunity to do just that and the chance to dream of one day becoming a professional footballer.
The events are designed to inspire young players, to ensure they enjoy the day and to nurture their love of football.
Your players will experience the thrill of playing on the club’s hallowed turf and enjoy the incredible atmosphere of a professional football stadium.
Our events are organised in tournament formats. All our junior tournaments in 2025 are played at this season 2024/2025 age groups. The tournaments are open to grassroots teams of all abilities.
Prior to their tournament matches commencing, teams will line-up in the players’ tunnel and have their names announced over the stadium’s PA system as they emerge from the tunnel and walk out on to the pitch. They will also enjoy the exclusive opportunity to visit the home and away changing rooms.
All events include FA-qualified match officials, first aid services, live tournament fixtures and results website, medal and trophy presentations and the on-site management and support of our event staff and tournament director.
7-a-side Junior Tournaments played on 4 pitches
With 4 pitches set up on the main stadium pitch, we are able to deliver a great tournament format with group matches and then Finals. All teams play 5 matches of 12 minutes, so have a guaranteed 60 minutes of match time in the tournament. This is made up of 3 group matches and then Semi-Final and Final matches. Crucially, this format ensures that every team plays the same amount of football at the tournament and that the players fully enjoy their time at the stadium.
NEW for 2025 – following the group matches, teams will progress either to the Champions Cup or Shield Competition. Not only does this ensure that all teams play their Finals matches against teams of a similar standard, it also means that the teams playing in the Shield Competition have the opportunity to win the Shield Final and take home a winners trophy.
Teams will spend around 5-6 hours at the stadium in total, the younger age groups (U7, U8, U9, U10) tournaments take place from approximately 9am-2.30pm, with the older age groups (U10, U11, U12, U13, U14) tournaments running from approximately 3pm-8.30pm. There are usually 8 teams playing in each age group tournament.
These timings are naturally subject to confirmation when the exact number of teams in each age group is finalised. Please note that the U10 tournament may take place during either the morning or afternoon session, depending on the balance of bookings across the age groups.
At the end of the tournament, following each team’s final match, we award medals and certificates to all players and there will be trophy presentations for the winner and runners-up teams in both the Champions Cup and Shield Competition in each age group.
NEW for 2025 - 9-a-side Youth Tournaments played on 2 pitches
With just 2 pitches set up on the main stadium pitch, we are able to deliver a tournament format best suited to older youth teams, once again with group matches and then Finals. Playing on larger pitches ensures that teenage players fully enjoy their time at the stadium. All teams play 5 matches of 20 minutes, so have a guaranteed 100 minutes of match time. This is made up of 3 group matches and then Semi-Final and Final matches, ensuring that every team plays the same amount of football at the tournament.
Following the group matches, teams will progress either to our Champions Cup, Shield Competition or Plate Competition. This ensures that all teams play their Finals matches against teams of a similar standard, as well as also giving the teams playing in the Shield and Plate Competitions the opportunity to win their Final and take home a winners trophy.
Teams will spend around 6 hours at the stadium in total, with the U14 age group tournament taking place from approximately 9am-3pm and the U15 age group tournament running from approximately 3.30pm-9.30pm. These timings are naturally subject to confirmation when the exact number of teams in each age group is finalised. We have planned for 12 teams to be playing in each age group tournament.
At the end of the tournament, following each team’s final match, we award medals to all players and there will be trophy presentations for the winner and runners-up teams in the Champions Cup, Shield Competition and Plate Competition.
